About Us

Keeping President Truman's Promise to Our Veterans

North Country Honor Flight exists to keep President Truman's promise to our veterans: that America will never forget their sacrifices. Since our founding in 2013, we have flown 71 flights and carried more than 1,250 veterans from Plattsburgh to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials dedicated to their service.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the official regional hub of the Honor Flight Network for the North Country of New York and Vermont. Every trip departs and returns the same day. We provide all the transportation, a compassionate guardian for each veteran, and medical personnel on every flight, at no cost to the veteran.

There's not many opportunities in life where you have a chance to be a part of changing someone's life.

What to know about taking an Honor Flight

  • Nothing. Every veteran flies completely free of charge. North Country Honor Flight is a 100% volunteer organization, and our flights are paid for entirely by donations from our community.

  • We serve veterans from the North Country of New York and Vermont. World War II and Korean War veterans receive top priority, and we are now actively recruiting Vietnam-era veterans. If you served, or know someone who did, please reach out. We want to fly you.

  • Flights depart from Plattsburgh and return the same day, with all transportation provided to and from the local airport and within Washington, D.C. Veterans visit the memorials dedicated to their service, accompanied by a compassionate guardian, with medical personnel on every flight.

  • Guardians travel alongside our veterans to assist them and make sure the day is safe and memorable. Almost anyone can apply to be a guardian, but a spouse, significant other, or partner cannot serve as guardian for their own veteran.

  • Yes. North Country Honor Flight is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and all donations are tax-deductible. We're careful with every dollar we receive.
